Do I have to keep doing this?

So I am only really writing this just in case I need an extra post. I have been working on this Wiki page and I hope that I am doing it right. My group needs to get some pictures and good hyperlinks put in our page and then finish up our conclusion. I really hope that my group does well on this. I hope that everyone does good on this assignment. I really want to come out of this class with an A and I am currently borderline on that so I hope I can get the grade! I really am excited that I am almost done with my freshman year!

What a great weekend!

So this weekend was pretty awesome. I didn't feel awesome on Friday night so I stayed in and worked on our group project. I was able to add a few more things and make changes according to what Mrs. Pavletic had told us. I think we have around 400 words. I really hope that it is what she wants, I feel like we are in the right direction but I am not totally sure. Its kind of frustrating understanding but at the same time not knowing what to do. Anyway, great weekend. I was able to go golfing and spend some time with my BF and then we went to church and had lunch with my family today. I hope you all had a great weekend!

Last Friday

I woke up today and got a shower and my throat did not feel good so I got back in bed. I am such a slacker I know. I actually feel really bad cause I was not there to help out my group on our Wiki. I hope they were able to get some work done cause we only have two more class days until it is due. That is really crazy to think about and it makes me really nervous because I think we only have about 400 words and we need another 300+. Welp, hopefully I am not getting sick and I will be all better tomorrow! Have a great weekend everyone!

Revision

Class was great today, Me and Jordan got some good work done on our paper. Our group is actually going to see Mrs. Pavletic and Mary this afternoon. Hopefully we will get some good direction because we only have one week until our wiki is due! I have started to think about which paper I want to revise but I have not decided which one I want to do yet. My manifesto is the one I got the lowest grade on so I guess I will do that one. I hope that I can make it better without doing too much to it. It that what y'all are doing, revising the paper with the lowest grade? I feel like this is a common since question but I would really like to check with y'all!

Studying with all my friends

So tonight as a part of the campus ministry I go to the freshman had a cookout at our campus minister's house. There were probably like 40 to 50 people there. We had lots of burgers and hotdogs and then we just hung out for a while. Now about 10 of us are all back at 508 (one of my friends townhouses) studying and messing around. At one point we all were on our computers. It was pretty funny. I am living with 4 of the girls that are here and the guys are going to be our neighbors so we are all super stoked for next year. Well, I should get back to work!

Wiki

Ok so for this assignment I think the best way to start out is to re-read my chapter. After I have done that an outline needs to be made. I remember and I have notes from when we did this chapter in the class and for some reason I am not fully getting the connection from the chapter back to the notes. I really do not like that. I hope that me and my group can successfully outline our chapter and come up with at least 750 words to fill up that wiki page. Im not a huge fan of this assignment but hopefully me and my group can pull it off!

School.

So lately I have had a ton of tests and work to do for school and finally I am getting a slight break. I get this week basically to relax and I'm enjoying it. I have my lab practical this coming week and I am so not looking forward to it. I hope that I will be able to pull it out cause I need a good grade in the lab to get a good grade in the class. On the Subject of English, I hope that this wiki will be easy to do I really do not enjoy not knowing what to write. I also have to remember to do that journal on how much progress we are making. We really don't have that much school left! Crazy!

Home Sweet Home

Well I arrived home this afternoon and it really is so great to be back. I love to be at my house with my whole family. It is like it used to be and I just love it. I hope to get my homework done today so I do not have to worry about it tomorrow. Me and my group have decided to re-read our chapter and take some notes on it. We really are not totally sure about what we are suppose to do for this paper so I hope we can make a good grade and finish this class with a bang! I hope you all have such a great Easter weekend and remember that Christ died for us and that is why we are celebrating this holiday!

Test!

So today is a super busy day for me! I am working all day in the quad center because my class was cancelled. It is really nice to pick up a few more hours but it is super busy in the office because of incoming students spring breaks and this upcoming Easter holiday. I hope that tomorrows class will not be  to difficult because I have a test tomorrow afternoon in Biology. I haven't really started studying but I have made study note cards. I probably have made about 100. Well anyway hopefully tonight will be super productive and I can do well on this test because I really need to do well in this class! If any of you have tests this week good luck and remember we only have 4 more weeks till we are done with our freshman year!

Missed Class

Welp today I missed my first class. To Brett Ardizone and Leah, I am sorry but I will be back on Wednesday! I was able to turn my paper, E-mails and interview videos in last night so its all up to Heather and Mary to grade them now. I really hope that this Wiki page is not too difficult to do. I am a little nervous about it though cause I have never created a wiki page before. Anyway, I will see you all on Wednesday!

Finished!

Hooray! So I was just now able to finish my paper and I am so happy that I will not have to worry with it this weekend. The only thing I am worried about now is uploading all of this stuff to canvas. How are we suppose to do all of that again? If you know please help me out!

Writing Center

This afternoon I went to the Miller Writing Center and it actually helped me a good bit. The Girl was able to help me fix some sentence structure problems and think more about how to finish my conclusion. Hopefully I will be able to work on the paper more when I get home so I am not doing any last minute changes or anything like that on Sunday night!

Conference

My conference was very helpful today! I met with Mary and she was very encouraging. Apparently I have the format down well and my paper is good, the only thing it is missing is the conclusion. I hope to be able to write that tonight or tomorrow. If that happens, I will be free this weekend other than starting to study for my organismal test! I am going to the writing center tomorrow to let them check up and critique my final draft so I should be more than prepared when it comes time to turn this paper in!

I am so relieved!

So I had a huge test today and I am so thankful it is over with. I was not a good student and I only started studying sunday night but it was mostly a vocabulary test so I think I did well. Really I could only go up because I did not do well on the first test. All I can do now is cross my fingers and hope for the best! Now the rest of my week is pretty much free for me to work on my paper and then start studying on my organismal test next Wednesday! I was really worried at first about this paper and I still am not too sure on what I am going to do but I feel a lot better about the paper, I think I am going to take it to the writing center and let them take a look at it. Well, anyway, I better go start working on that!

Peer Review

Well todays peer review went really well! I really liked the setup and the way we were able to give and receive feed back. I think that if we did all of our peer review sessions like that I would have done much better on my two previous papers. I hope that I will be able to do well on this paper. I know that my writing has improved since our first paper so that makes me happy. Lets just see how I can do on this one!

Can this day please hurry up?

So I am super excited for today to be done with, or at least the beginning of it. My boyfriend is back in town and I can't see him until he gets off work and I am done with school so today is going to be so slow. In other news, I have been working on my paper. I have gotten the first page done and now that we have more of a guideline on how to organize the paper I think that it will be a lot easier. I want to go ahead and get at least two pages finished this afternoon so I don't have to worry with it this weekend.

Started my paper today.

This morning I started my paper, hooray! I really have no clue how this is suppose to be written so I hope that I am doing this right. I am going to try my best to get it finished tonight or at least most of the way completed because I do not want to have to worry with it this weekend. Exciting news, my boyfriend gets back from Hawaii tomorrow morning! I am super excited cause I have not seen him in two weeks. Anyway, let me get off of this so I can go get my paper done. Wish me luck!

Interviews!

Well I cut it close, I did my interviews last night and typed them up real quick before bed. The problem I am having is going to be narrowing down my topic. My major is currently exercise science but I am changing to public relations so I am writing on the topic of Honesty and disclosure of information by non-profit organizations. My interviews in my opinion went very well but I don't know if I got enough information. The people that I interviewed are very nice so I am sure that they can give me more information if I need it!

I am a slacker.

I have to do my interviews today!!!! I think I will have all my questions compiled by this afternoon so I will get them done tonight. I was going to interview one of my co-workers but he has a test and he is super stressed about it so I am not going to bother him about it. I have a back up but technically she does not work in public relations. She has studied PR and that is the major that she graduated with so hopefully it will go well!

In Class Activity.

As usual I was late for class again today, the activity we were doing was actually not that bad. I think it is fun creating a story line out of just a few pieces of information. I guess I will pick the paragraph that sounds the best out of the four we wrote. I am terrible at the whole jargon thing but hopefully I can alter my paragraph to sound a little better. Oh, and I really need to do my interviews too.

Sickkk

Last night I had the worst headache ever. I really don't know what brought it on either. I still don't quite feel up to par but Im super happy my head is not throbbing like it was. I think that today I am going to go home and spend some time with my parents. My sister doesn't come home until this afternoon so there is nothing really fun going on at my house. I'm really hoping that my mom will have cooked something good for lunch! As you can tell, I'm not really in a homework mood. Prolly not good but I'll get it done sometime.

Oh how I am so NOT motivated.

So I am so thankful that our assignment was pushed back till Wednesday because I am so not motivated at all. I have people that I am going to interview but I don't know when I am going to do it, and frankly I just don't wanna think about it today. I think this spring break made me super lazy cause I don't want to do any of the assignment that I have due next week. Hopefully I will be more motivated later on this weekend.

Back from the break...

So this week has been so much fun! I was able to successfully visit 5+ different cities and enjoy every bit of the nature, history and night life that was there for me to see. I do have to say that I am very happy to be home and in my own bed tonight though. Hotels and other peoples houses are not bad for a couple of days but when I have the world's softest bed at my house here in Aubs I love sleeping in it. Class Discussion

So today's class was really interesting! I really enjoyed all the discussion that we had and I really like how relaxed the discussion is. I really really really wish that I could have gotten some of those cookies! They looked really good! I gave up desserts for lent so I hated not being able to eat some of those cookies. Well, I hope everyone has a good spring break! be safe and I will see you all in 2ish weeks!

Mike Rose

Today I am going to go ahead and read chapter 10 and 11 for next week because I am going to be out of town and I would rather just get it over with! I hope that others will maybe post before I go out of town so I can go ahead and post a comment to the thread. I am leaving tomorrow at 2 so I am excited! I really hope that we have a short class tomorrow because I am going to be really ancy and ready for school to be over! Well I will see y'all tomorrow I guess!

Spring Break is coming fast!

So crap, I am leaving for spring break Friday at 2 and I wont be back until the next Friday. I do not have any time to interview my expert because #1 I will be out of town and #2 he will be out of town. What am I going to do??!! I could take some of my work on the road trip but am I really going to get anything done?? Ummmm, thats a definite No. Ah, this is a little frustrating I wish she would be nice and change the assignment due date.

Found me someone to interview!

So I have found me an "expert" in my field that I can interview! His name is Hunter and I work with him in the admissions office. He is a public relations major and this is just perfect. I hope that Mrs. Pavletic changes the due date for the interviews. I don't know if we have the time to do it this week and I know that both of us are going out of town. Maybe it will all work out!

I will be a conquerer!

Today really helped me with finding questions to ask the people I am going to interview. I need to get a little bit more organized but I feel like I have a good amount of questions that I can ask. Hopefully sometime this week I will figure out who I will interview. I am leaning more towards the provoking peoples emotions to get them to donate money topic. I am not sure if that is a topic that people know much about or if it is just a major specific thing so we will see. I feel like I am rambling so I better just stop typing.

The Parents

So if you read a few of my previous posts I have talked about going to visit my boyfriends parents. Well today he went home with me and met my parents! It went super well, my mom cooked cubed steak and onion gravy with mashed potatoes, green beans and biscuits. It was amazing! Then we all just hung-out, we talked for a good bit and watched a TV show and then we came back to Auburn! My parents said they really like him and that makes me happy. Anyway, thats just a little of my personal life for ya!

P.S. still no luck finding a topic for my paper :/

Lazy Day

Today I was suppose to get up and run a 5K but I slept through my alarm! So I have been super lazy today looking over my classes for next semester and getting prepared so I can register and then watching a heck ton of TV. All of my gal friends are out of town so hopefully tonight I will get to hang out with my man!! oh, now I might be going to the basketball game!!!!

We had an assignment?

Whoah. I almost came to class unprepared today. Last night a really good friend of mine and her boyfriend broke up. She was really upset and I ended up picking her up and she spent the night with me. Well this morning when we woke up I realized that I still had to come up with some contact information and bring it to class with me. Even though we didn't get to bed until 2 it was really easy for me to get up and get ready so I had a few minutes to spare and do my assignment! Hooray!

Ethical Issue

So I have been meaning to do what Heather said and search google for ethical issues in my field of study. I have no clue still what I want to do! Im not sure how I feel about interviewing someone either. Im not any good at that stuff. Hopefully the question workshop that we are going to do is of use!


Can spring break be here already?

Essay 3

I have no clue what I am going to do for this paper. I am currently in the process of changing my major so I will be writing about an ethical issue in the field of public relations. My only thoughts that I could think of and my group could come up with was:

The issue of using an issue and raising money for it but then not using all of the money for that purpose.

The issue of using sad commercials and provoking emotions to raise money for a cause.

The issue of guilt tripping people into raising money.

These are the only things that I could think of. Hopefully I can talk to someone specific in my field of study and they can give me some examples of ethical issues.

Midterm

So I hope that I did that midterm right. I just wrote a new paragraph for each question. I worked until the last minute so I hope that I had enough information in the actual letter. I'm happy that it was a fairly easy assignment. We weren't too stressed so that was nice. I hope that this next essay is not too difficult to do, especially with spring break being in the middle of the assignment. I hope that the week off will mess the whole process up. Speaking of, I am super excited to go on Spring Break! Me and a group of my friends are going on a road trip! We are going to Savannah, Myrtle Beach and Nashville! I Cannot wait!

So I was up until about 1 last night and I finished my paper! I was going to go to the writing center this morning and let them check over it before I submitted it but.... I slept too late as usual. I ended up turning in my paper without getting a ton of review. My sister usually looks over my papers for me because she is an English minor but she had a paper due as well and she hadn't even started, so she really wasn't as much help as she usually is. Anyway, I think that my paper turned out well. I feel like it was significantly better than my first paper so we will see!!!!!!

The weekend is coming fast!

Today I have to get crackin. I am going home with my boyfriend tomorrow and I am super nervous about that but this means that I wont have much time to work on my paper this weekend. Hopefully I can get a good bit of it done today so that I wont be stressing out on Sunday night trying to get it done. I have been able to write and perfect a page and a half so this is good. I have about another page and a half that I am going to use bits and pieces of to make up the rest of my paper. I hate that I had to kind of start from scratch after advising but I am also glad because my paper suckedddddd before. Wish me good luck and I will be talking to y'all on Sunday!

Editing

So today I had another friend look over my paper. I always get super nervous when I let people read my papers, I feel like they are going to judge me and say that I am a terrible writer. He did not say that it was bad but he did tell me that I could word things differently to make them sound smarter and use synonyms instead of the same words over and over. I am thankful that I have friends like him that are willing to read over my crappy writing and help me make it better, but I do still get nervous about it!

Conference

Today was my conference and it went well. I found our that I need to get specific and to be careful with the structure of my paper. I think I knew all of this already but I just did not think to much about it. I am hoping to get this paper done by friday for selfish reasons (I'm going to meet my boyfriends parents this weekend!) Anyway, I am going to finish this paper soon, wish me luck!

Can this be over with already?

I am so ready to be done writing this manifesto. I really don't understand the meaning of this assignment I guess. I had some friends of mine review my paper and then read the assignment sheet, they told me to get more specific, but I feel like I am already pretty specific. I really have no clue. I just do not want writers block anymore!

Peer Reviewing

So today, my peer reviewers really helped me out! Whoever you are you really gave me some encouragement thank you! I'm super excited to revise my paper and get super specific. I just hope that I can make it good enough to get a good grade. I got a B on my last paper and I was a little disappointed but I am going to try my best and make this paper amazing!

Complete!

So today after church me and my sister drove home. I decided that since I only had a page and a half of my draft done I should probably just go ahead and take my computer with me so I could finish it while I was here.

After multiple interruptions from my mother saying that she wished I was spending time with them instead of me being cooped up in my room, I am proud to say that I am finished with my draft! I know for sure that it is not up to the standard that I need it to be so I can turn it in but I really don't care at this point.

Intro?!?

So I am not content with my intro. Please give me some feed back!!! Is this at all in the right direction?! I don't think it clearly states my point. 
My point is: A Christian support group is necessary when growing in your faith.


Faith is believing in something so much and so deeply that it changes the way you live. Christian faith changes your life. This faith is not something that you should take on alone. With it, comes a family of believers that offer support and it is your job to get connected. Christian faith requires a strong devotion to God and a devotion to his people. In order to have this devotion, a Christian support group necessary. A Christian support group provides encouragement and accountability that is needed for growth and devotion in your faith.

Rough Draft

So I started my rough draft this afternoon and I have about a page and a half down, about 467 words. I’m starting to get worried though. I have had a little trouble thinking of what to write and I don’t think that I quite understand the meaning of manifesto. I hope I am doing this right because I really don’t want to get super stressed about this when it gets closer to time to turn in the final draft.

Lets get this party started

So, I'm just gonna dive into trying to write this paper. Its not gonna be pretty, but I'm going to kill two birds with one stone by writing a blog and trying to get all of my writing and thoughts actually down into paper format. Here goes the intro!


Christian Faith is not a faith you take on all by yourself. A Christian support group is necessary when trying to grow closer to God. Christian Faith requires devotion to God and devotion to his people. Having someone encouraging you and keeping up with your life is always great to have, but it is even better when those people share the same beliefs with you. If they share the same beliefs with you, you can keep each other accountable for your actions toward or against your faith and help each other grow in the faith.

Today's Free Write

My Belief
I believe in Jesus Christ. Therefore I believe that Jesus was a man born of a virgin who lived and died and rose on the 3rd day to save me of my sins. As a part of my belief, sharing the gospel of Christ in necessary. I have been called to fearlessly proclaim the gospel to others just as Paul wrote in Ephesians 6:19.
As part of my faith, rejection is something I have to deal with. Some people do not want to hear what I have to say and they have the full right to ask me to leave them alone. But after a while, that rejection can hurt. This is one of the reasons a Christian support group is important. A strong Christian support group is great because they encourage you when you feel rejected, they keep you focused on Christ and they listen when you have problems or questions.


So this is what I came up with today when we did our short write. It actually helped me to start my paper. I guess these short write activities are actually helping me out.

Research

So every Monday afternoon I meet with a girl from ACF. I guess you could say she is my mentor. We sit, talk, share scripture, and she even gives me advice when I ask for it. Also, I meet with a group of girls for bible study on Tuesday nights. The Bible study is lead by one of the sweetest seniors at ACF! 


These are examples of Christian support systems that I am going to be writing about. 


The girls in these groups are so amazing and I am so blessed to have become friends with them! I never had these type of relationships in high school so it is really great to have the encouragement and accountability that these girls give to me. Hopefully my paper will reflect all the amazing things that have happened in my life and argue my point about the necessity of having a christian support group.

A step in the right direction

So here is what I wrote for assignment 2. I totally missed the memo about the change in topic. I still think that I was able to get a lot of my argument out and now I just have to address the question why.


            When it comes to having a support system, there is no better support system than a strong Christian family of believers. Some may argue you do not need to rely on anyone to help you in this world, but in my personal experience if you have someone helping you to stay focused you will be able to reach your goals so much faster than if you were by yourself. When you are with a person or group of people that believe in the same things and share the joy that you have in those things, it is so much easier to follow and share those beliefs with others. 
            Another argument someone might have would be why does the person or group of people need to be Christian? I have been saved by the grace of Jesus Christ and my belief is that we have a purpose in this world. We are not here just to live our lives but to serve and proclaim the glory of Jesus Christ. If I were constantly surrounded with non-believers then I would not receive the encouragement and support that is necessary to continue with my faith. Yes, the purpose of my faith is to share with non-believers, but without the support of other believers, it is very easy to feel defeated when trying to share.


Let me know what you think, I know it is rough, but I'm going in the right direction right?

Assignment 2, you are really kicking my butt.

So when I wrote out our first assignment I was really excited. I felt like I really started up my topic and gave some good examples on why I believe what I believe and how I started that belief. When we got our papers back, I was surprised to have a note saying I needed to check the definition of a manifesto.
Now, I am completely at a loss and kinda frustrated because I cannot figure out what to write about. Hopefully I can do some really good brainstorming and figure out what it is exactly I am suppose to be writing cause obviously I have no clue.


I wish you all better luck than me when it comes to your papers cause at this point I'm feeling a little defeated :/

What to do...what to do...

Today I woke up feeling very motivated and I have already gotten a good bit done. The one thing I am having trouble with is coming up with my topic for my manifesto. I have many beliefs and I feel like I could write about all of them but the trouble I am running into is picking one. I am a follower of Christ ( I chose to use that as my topic for our first unit 2 writing assignment). I believe that in order to accomplish something in this world, hard work and dedication are necessary. I believe that creativity is something that everyone has but you just have to find a medium that you can show it through. I believe that friends are an essential part of your life. I believe a loving family is necessary when growing up. I believe in marriage and that divorce can be prevented. I believe that it is important to read and have an imagination.


See I could go on and on I think. Ahhh, i really have no clue what to do. I know a lot of us are in the same boat, so if y'all have any ideas or suggestions please feel free to share! I hope that I will be able to help some of you!

Forgot this part

So I wanna share a little bit more about myself. I was born and raised in Salem, Al. This town literally has a caution light and a gas station. I have one older sister and two loving parents. I grew up on 15 acres of woods in a wooden house with a green metal roof. I absolutely loved growing up in the woods making forts and swimming in the creek. I went to a fairly large high school called Smiths Station. My class was a really awesome class we all knew each other and always had a good time. I used to be a dancer and I was on my schools dance team for a time. I guess you could say that I am a VERY friendly person. I love people and getting to know them so I would love to get to know you all! I hope this gives you a little glimpse into my life!

Workin for the Weekend

On Monday through Wednesday I work in the admissions office in the Quad Center. You can usually find me answering the phones, answering e-mails, and helping answer any questions the prospective students have. Today was a particularly slow day. I got to work at 8 this morning and the day has just been going by so slowly. I have this awesome co-worker named Hunter that makes me laugh so hard. Thankfully he came in an hour ago so it has helped me kill this boredom. I am so excited to get out of here and get some lunch with my friends before class. I get off in 5 minutes so I'm super stoked!!

What Up?!

Well hey there, my name is Sarah Buck and I am a freshman here at Auburn. I am currently an Exercise Science major but I am pretty sure I am going to be changing pretty soon. I am not quite sure what I want to do, but I know that I want to work more with people. I am very involved with Auburn Christian Fellowship here on campus.
